UNICEF and the One Minutes joined forces with Save the Children Cambodia to bring the first oneminutesjr. workshop to Prey Veng Province. The workshop, held 27 November to 1 December, was the first in Cambodia and gathered a diverse group of children at the Peam Ro District Office. STC received suggestions from the kids prior to the workshop to determine the theme – “Child Rights in My World.” The workshop was led by video artists Ineke Bakker and Taatske Pieterson and brought together 18 young filmmakers aged 12-17 from around Prey Veng. None of the kids had eer used a camera or a video camera before, so they were taught the basics of how to use the camera, camera angles and shots and how to storyboard. After discussing ideas, the teams set out to film in various locations, such as homes, the street and the ferry terminal. Stories ranged from the effects of alcohol on parents to the love and safety of family to future dreams. It was a busy five days and the final films premiered at a packed screening, in front of family and friends. The participants were very excited to make their first video and some indicated that they would like to be filmmakers when they grew up.
